Gourdon is in the heart of the Lot and near to the Dordogne, offering countless opportunities for exploration. Rocamadour, just 40 minutes' drive away, is one of the must-see gems of this area and deservedly the second most visited religious site in France. Cahors, the departmental capital that sits on the river Lot, has winding medieval streets and one of the best markets in the region. Downstream, the river is also home to the vineyards that produce the Cahors appellation wines, renowned for their depth and body. Sarlat is a 35 minute drive and is a must-see town, with 2 weekly markets.The region has a remarkable number of prehistoric sites, medieval towns, châteaux and gardens, all set in breathtaking scenery.
